Introduction:
Designed to give parents and carers’ skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver first aid for common child-related injuries and illnesses.

Target Audience:
Parents, expecting parents, grandparents, and anyone who works with or cares for children.
Learning Outcomes:
- On completion of this training, students will receive a Certificate of Completion
Learning Methods:
A combination of practical activities, roles play and interaction with a first aid trainer. There is no assessment for this training.

Content:
- Basic Life Support - DRSABCD
- Performing CPR
- Special techniques for children and infants
- Breathing emergencies including choking and asthma
- Severe allergic reaction
- Common childhood illnesses
- Shock
- Infection control
- Bleeding and wound care
- Children are unable to attend training, with the exception of breastfeeding newborns, and in a private group session
- Please wear comfortable clothing as CPR demonstrations are performed on the floor
- Note: This is a short course so not all topics are covered in depth
- Note: this is non-accredited short course and is separate to HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education & care setting
