FABC - First Aid for Babies and Children  

Introduction:

Designed to give parents and carers’ skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver first aid for common child-related injuries and illnesses.

Learn how to provide emergency first aid for baby head injury, baby allergic reaction, broken bones in babies and children, infant CPR, anaphylaxis in kids, and a range of other emergencies.

Target Audience:

Parents, expecting parents, grandparents, and anyone who works with or cares for children.

Learning Outcomes:

  • On completion of this training, students will receive a Certificate of Completion

Learning Methods:

A combination of practical activities, roles play and interaction with a first aid trainer. There is no assessment for this training.

  • Basic Life Support - DRSABCD
  • Performing CPR
  • Special techniques for children and infants
  • Breathing emergencies including choking and asthma
  • Severe allergic reaction
  • Common childhood illnesses
  • Shock
  • Infection control
  • Bleeding and wound care
  • Poisons
  • Bites and stings
  • Febrile convulsions
  • Phycological protection for kids
  • Please wear comfortable clothing as CPR demonstrations are performed on the floor
  • Children are unable to attend training, with the exception of breastfeeding newborns, and in a private group session
  • Note: This is a short course so not all topics are covered in depth
  • Note: this is non-accredited short course and is separate to HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting
