HLTAID002 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support Streetwise.

Introduction:

Streetwise First Aid is an innovative program designed by Red Cross to provide free accredited first aid training to people with learning difficulties, language and literacy issues, or who have experienced barriers to training and education. The Streetwise model teaches important lifesaving skills, which enhance opportunities to access work, training and community involvement.

This unique program is the first of its kind in Australia, and teaches basic skills and knowledge to respond to an emergency. Participants learn to provide life support and how to manage a casualty until medical assistance arrives.

Target Audience:

This model enables Red Cross to facilitate training for vulnerable Australians who do not have access to training otherwise. As the course provider, Red Cross works in partnership with funding bodies and community organisations to make courses possible and to train those in most need of these lifesaving skills.

Learning Outcomes:

  • On successful completion of this training course, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment
  • Units of Competency: HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

Learning Methods:

Demonstration of practical skills‚ participation in role plays‚ analysis of case studies and verbal assessments.

Please note it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.
