LTFA – Lets Talk First Aid
The course can be delivered in 90-120 minute sessions. Examples of topics include:
Session 1 Topics
DRSABCD - Action Plan:
- Where to start
- When and how to call 000
- How to manage a conscious person
- How to manage an unconscious person
- When and how to do Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- When and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Demonstration on a manikin for CPR & AED
Note: It is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.
Session 2 Topics
Basic First Aid for:
- Sprains
- Strains
- Wound care
- Fractures and dislocations
- Concussion
- Asthma
Session 3 Topics
Basic First Aid for:
- Anaphylaxis (includes use of an Adrenaline auto-injector)
- Poisons
- Exposure to heat
- Exposure to cold
- Diabetes
- Seizures
Target Audience:
Anyone who wants a basic understanding of first aid.
Learning Outcomes:
- Participants who complete this course will receive a certificate of participation. This is not a statement of attainment, as this is not nationally recognised training.
Learning Methods:
These sessions are delivered as information workshops.
