HLTAID015 - Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy  

Introduction:

This course teaches advanced first aid resuscitation techniques‚ life support, and management of casualties until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to use specialised equipment in the provision of resuscitation, in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines.

Pre-Requisites
Entry to this course requires a current HTLAID011 Provide First Aid qualification.  HLTAID015 Provide Advanced Resuscitation and Oxygen Therapy is an advanced first aid course, and the HLTAID015 unit of competency includes a prerequisite requirement of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.

Target Audience:

Workers who may be required to use specialised equipment to provide resuscitation in a range of complex situations‚ include community and workplace settings.

Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority.

Learning Outcomes:

  • On successful completion of this course, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy and HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Learning Methods:

Demonstration of practical skills‚ participation in role-plays, analysis of case studies and an assessment of your theoretical knowledge.

Please note it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.
