MHFA-R - Mental Health First Aid Refresher  

Introduction:

This course gives people who have previously completed a Mental Health First Aid course the opportunity to refresh their knowledge and skills.

The refresher course teaches people real-life first aid skills for helping family, friends, co-workers or other people dealing with mental health problems.

This course is intended for the public to gain an understanding of a first response approach to assisting an adult experiencing mental health concerns.  The course introduces students to a range of mental health concerns, and through a five-step action plan, students learn how to respond to someone who is experiencing mental health concerns.

Target Audience:

The course is designed for participants who have been accredited as an MHFAider within the last 3 years.
Important Notice: 
  • Individuals wanting to attend the MHFA Refresher course are only eligible if it has been less than 3 years since they last completed their course.
  • Individuals can only attend the refresher course once.

Learning Outcomes:

  • On successful completion of this course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and are eligible to complete an online assessment to be further issued a Certificate of Accreditation from Mental Health First Aid Australia.
  • Important Notice: If you book and complete a Refresher course beyond 3 years from your initial accreditation, you are only eligible for a Certificate of Attendance.

Learning Methods:

A combination of practical activities, role-play, and interaction with a first aid trainer. There are no formal assessments for this course.
