HLTAID010 - Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
Introduction:
Develop basic life support skills to respond to an emergency. Learn how to provide life support‚ basic first aid and manage a casualty, adult or child of any age, until medical assistance arrives.
Teaching special techniques for children and infants this course is ideal for all parents who want to be prepared with the skills and confidence to respond in the case of an emergency. The unit was developed in line with Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

Target Audience:
Employees‚ parents, carers and anyone who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Specific licensing /regulatory requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training should be obtained from the relevant national/state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authorities.

Learning Outcomes:
- On successful completion of this training course, students will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
- Units of Competency: HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation, HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support
Learning Methods:
Demonstration of practical skills‚ participation in role-plays, analysis of case studies and a theory assessment.
Please note it is a requirement of this course that practical demonstration of CPR must be performed on the adult manikin on the floor.
