Target Audience:
Health care professionals (including nurses, midwives and scientists) currently working in or associated with the field of transfusion/blood management.
Staff responsible for managing organisational compliance of blood related standards and associated activities. For the Australian audience, this would include the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standard 7.
Individuals working towards a career in the above mentioned areas.

Course Outcomes:
To achieve the nationally recognised Graduate Certificate in Blood Management qualification, the following nine units of competency must be successfully completed:

NAT10877001 Monitor and influence blood and blood product use in clinical situations
NAT10877002 Apply and monitor best practice blood management processes
NAT10877003 Confirm consent and provide consumer information
NAT10877004 Develop a change plan for blood management processes
NAT10877005 Audit blood management processes
NAT10877006 Conduct work based education to increase blood management awareness
BSBINS401 Analyse and present research information
BSBOPS403 Apply business risk management processes
CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice

Assessment Methods:
Knowledge and practical skills will be assessed by participation in role-plays, analysis of case studies, provision of portfolios of evidence, completion of assignments/projects and review of written responses to questions.

Time Commitment:
The course duration is approximately one year. It is advisable to allocate at least 14 hours/week for online learning and additional time for assessment activities and private study.
